Shapeshifting
a woman’s passage through threads of becoming
There are moments in a woman’s life when things stop feeling the way they used to.
This book was written for those moments.
Shapeshifting begins with this book. Read it, return to it, and when you’re ready, continue into a living seasonal community where these ideas become embodied practice.
Hardcover • 280 pages • Full colour
What this book is
A mythic and psychologically grounded exploration of women’s becoming through archetype, emotional patterning, symbolism and cyclical change.
Written through the language of threads, voices, distortions and return, the work offers ways of recognising the patterns already moving through your life.
Rather than asking who you should become, it invites attention to who you are already becoming.
The work begins where you are already living.
The first step of a larger journey
The book is complete in itself. Women can spend months or years returning to its pages before deciding to explore further. If, at some point, you want to embody these ideas through seasonal practice, community and guided exploration, Shapeshifting continues beyond the book.

What women say…
“Shapeshifting, the book, is the most beautiful invitation to go on a journey to remember all the parts of yourself. Hollie's way of weaving together myth, archetypes, somatic experiencing and psychology, is powerful for me in ways I cannot explain. This book meets you where you are everytime you pick it up. It calls you home. It gathers you up in a warm embrace, while gently tugging at the loose threads in your life that you might have noticed, or might have been ignoring. This is deep work but through this book you never feel alone.”
~ Helaine
This is a way to dive deeper into the rhythm work that is also very psychologically. transformative. It’s unique in its centering of women's experience and bodies but moving it away from focusing solely on blood rites/birth.”
~ Julia
A different approach to archetypes
The archetypes within Shapeshifting are not approached as fixed identities, rigid feminine roles or life stages women are expected to move through in order.
They are approached as recurring movements within a life.
One part of you may be ready to begin while another recognises that something has already ended. One part may long for desire while another carries responsibility, discernment or exhaustion.
The work is less interested in identifying who you are than recognising the movements already present within a life.
Distortions of becoming
You might recognise yourself inside patterns such as suppression, performance, overdrive, fragmentation and collapse.
Within this work, these are not treated as failures or pathology but as adaptations shaped within real conditions.
The question becomes not “what is wrong with me?” but “what happened that made this pattern necessary?”
As these patterns become visible, what once felt fixed can begin to shift.
Take a look inside...
Shapeshifting follows five threads of becoming, weaving together archetype, psychology, embodiment, nature and the mythic to explore how a woman changes across a lifetime. Browse these sample pages to step inside the threads and get a feel for how the journey unfolds through the book.

There are moments in a woman’s life when things stop feeling the way they used to.
Shapeshifting is a mythic and psychologically grounded exploration of women’s becoming through archetype, symbolism, emotional patterning and cyclical change.
Moving through a series of interconnected threads, the book explores how our lives are shaped by experience, the recurring patterns we find ourselves living within and the different voices that emerge across seasons of change. At its heart is the Heraine’s Journey, a cyclical framework for understanding becoming through return, recognition and lived experience rather than fixed stages or linear progress.
Written by psychotherapist and educator hollie wildëthorn, Shapeshifting brings together psychological depth, symbolic practice and ordinary life, offering language for what is changing and a way of recognising the movements already shaping your life.

The companion hardcover book expands the frameworks beneath the cards, exploring symbolism, emotional patterning, the Rhythm of Life, the Heraine’s Journey and the recurring processes through which women become themselves across a lifetime.
Together they offer both framework and practice: a way of understanding the larger patterns of your life and a way of returning to them through reflection, recognition and lived experience.
For women who wish to explore the deeper layers of Shapeshifting, the bundle provides a rich foundation that can be used on its own or alongside the online Pathways.
Reading Through the Lens of Becoming
This is not a book built around advice, steps or solutions.
Instead it offers language, stories, symbols, maps and frameworks that help illuminate patterns already present within a life.
Some sections may feel immediately familiar. Others may only make sense months or years later when life arrives at the threshold they describe.
Like the symbolic traditions it draws from, the work reveals itself through return.
About hollie
hollie wildëthorn is a psychotherapist, clinical counsellor and educator whose work sits at the intersections of trauma, feminism, ecology, and becoming.
