why circles?

Facilitated by Hollie Wildëthorn; therapist, witch and ceremonialist with 20+ years experience holding space for Magick and Mystery.

Women’s Circles are a radical act in claiming space, voice and Self. Hollie’s Circles are Trauma-informed, emotionally safe space to explore the rhythm of Womaning.

You can expect a guided evening of self-exploration through learning, sharing and witnessing. When Women sit in Circle together, everyone is equal. When Women share experience in Circle , everyone is honoured. When Women come together in safe space, everyone is empowered.

Can anyone come to these Circles?

These Circles are for people who identify as women (including teens). The Circles are not for younger girls. Babes in arms are always welcome.

Potential participants may be required to attend a 15min video interview with Hollie before the Circle to check we are a right fit.

Got Questions?

The cost is prohibitive to me. Is there another way to come without paying money?

Hollie offers Scholarships and Volunteer places. If these options would benefit you, please mention your situation in your initial interview.

I know Hollie works with Animal Assistants when she does therapy. Will there be animals involved in these Circles?

Sygfa the therapy-hound-in-training is likely to attend our Circles. She is a puppy and is still learning about being in therapeutic space. If dogs are a concern for you (either for fear, grief or allergy) please talk to Hollie in your initial interview. There are a myriad of options to modulate the puppy experience so that you can feel safe and secure in our space.

I know Hollie is a cannabis-friendly therapist. Does this mean I can smoke weed in the Circle?

Many women who work with Hollie use medical cannabis products on prescription to manage anxiety, chronic pain and other symptoms. If your Circle experience requires you to engage with your prescription cannabis, please keep to common smoking expectations and burn (smoke or vape) flower outdoors and away from the main group.

What should I wear?

Whatever feels comfortable and enjoyable for you and your body. Ensure you can move easily and you have appropriate footwear for the on Land Circles. Layers are usually helpful as sometimes Ceremony work can heighten temperatures and you might want to lighten your load. Often after Ceremony your body temperature will drop, so having a shawl or jacket is great support. Some women like flowy dresses and robes, and some like yoga pants and pyjamas, and others like jeans and puffy jackets. There’s no special uniform that witchy women are supposed to wear and you will not be judged for wearing something that’s not typical in the self-help scene. As Self Crafters, whatever you wear is the perfect creative expression of you on this day, in this moment; and everyone else will be equally in their own perfect expression too.

I haven’t had many good experiences with other women. How will I know if a Women’s Circle is the right thing for me?

Circles are an opportunity for growth. The trauma-informed space will be very different to any other experiences you’ve had in self-help groups and with other women. Hollie sets and holds clear group boundaries to ensure everyone can be safe and secure in the shared space. Collaboration and Coregulation are important pillars of this work, along with Choice, Learning and Integration. If you have concerns about being with a group of women, you have an opportunity to talk to Hollie about it in your initial interview.

Is the New Moon Circle the same content as the Full Moon Circle?

Not at all. At New Moon we are setting intentions, looking into potential and utilising the Rhythm of the Cycles to aim at our Vision. At Full Moon we are celebrating that which is actualising, embodying the moon’s intensity and being with a new reality. These Moon Circles are also a completely different format to the Seasonal Online Circles.

Can anyone come to these Circles?

These Circles are for people who identify as women (including teens). The Circles are not for young girls. Babes in arms are always welcome. Potential participants may be required to attend a 15min video interview with Hollie before the Circle to check we are a right fit.

Why do we have to bring a plate?

Sharing food is a custom drawing on connection, togetherness, gratitude and earth-based reverence. It can bring people together and join us in a common experience. Hollie is well aware that for many women the topic of food / eating can be activating (some people use the word ‘triggering’). You’re invited to use the situation as an opportunity for growth and change. You might like to start engaging with the ‘bring a plate’ concept as a way to connect with the Earth and the Season. There is no requirement to cook. A plate of in-season vegetables or a few pieces of fruit is sufficient. This is a shame-free space and all foods are welcome. Bring something you enjoy! You can talk to Hollie about this in your initial interview if you think it will be a problem or you’d like more clarification. If it’s too much to organise our Kitchen Witch Samantha, who looks after our catering will happily create a plate for you for a $20 cost (Full Moons only).

Can I bring a bottle of wine as my ‘share plate’?

We prefer to leave non-prescription substances at home during Circles, to avoid the potential for dissociative risk during and after the event. Ceremony can create an altered state of mind / body and the addition of alcohol / substances can interfere with the integrative process. Integration is a pillar of therapeutic work. If you have any concerns about use of substances, feel free to bring it up with Hollie in your initial interview - or any other time.

I get overwhelmed in big groups. How many people are likely to be there?

There are 13 places available for each session. With Hollie and her apprentice Millie, that makes a maximum of 15 women at any Circle. Smallish groups are important for this model of trauma-informed group work. If we end up with a high number of women interested, we will put on a second group, rather than increase the size.
